Use of Marathi in the Consumer Forums of Maharashtra – No longer Compulsory

The State Commission has passed  an order  in May 2015 that all work in the District Forums should be in Marathi only.

– Filing of Complaints, Replies, etc..etc.

This appears to be in conformity with the Rules framed under the Consumer Protection Act.

But this has a lot of practical problems and difficulties.

Has any one thought about this issue and what should be done?

Wonderful news

The President, State Commission of Maharashtra has considered this issue and issued modified orders.
There is no longer any  need to submit Complaints and other documents in Marathi.

  1. The problem with use of Marathi was one of logistics and the extra money involved.
Of course, this would also have added to the wasteful use of a lot of paper.
I had sent a 9 page document for translation to one translator.
He wanted Rs. 3000 this simple work.
This would be unaffordable for the common person.
