WHAT IS ZERO FIR ?
An F.I.R. should be filed in the police station within
whose jurisdiction the cognizable offence takes place.
But sometimes, there are problems in determining the
correct police station. Therefore, at least theoretically,
an FIR can be filed in any police station, irrespective of
the jurisdictional limitations and location of the
incident.
The police station takes in the FIR and marks it as a zero
FIR by giving it serial number zero and immediately
transfers the documents over to the concerned
jurisdictional police station.
